Septic System Inspection
When purchasing a new home, or any property that has a septic system here in Southwest Florida, it is important for you to schedule a home inspection. In most cases this is required by a lender.
Septic Tank Certification
Once the tank is pumped, the technician will begin inspecting the drain field. The technician will run water to the drain field from the outlet end of the septic tank for approximately 20-30 minutes. During this time he will ensure the drain field is accepting water and functioning properly at the time of the inspection. According to the EPA, a properly designed and installed drain field should work for approximately 17 years. Picture in your mind a sponge and how it absorbs water. Once the sponge is saturated, there is no place for the water to go. A drain field works the same way, once saturated it will begin backing up into the home. The technician will note drain field material/type. If repairs to your septic system are required, you will receive a written report detailing the suggested repairs.
